Starting with Insights

Hint Creative is a boutique creative agency and design studio based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Founded in 2006, they specialize in design, branding, advertising, photography, video, and website design.

Hint as a Brand

Stylistic Approach

From the beginning, it made sense to use Hint's original colors and fonts and create a layout inspired by the grids used on their website.

Similarly, because it is a smaller agency with only one location in Salt Lake City, Utah, I wanted to focus on the town and state, almost reflecting how the city moves with Hint. For that, the scenery of mountains and the city was used, opening the book with a daylight image of the building in which Hint is located, and closing the book with an evening shot from downtown, showing the progression of creative days at work.

The matching sleeves and dust jackets reflected a personalized, hands-on, and almost multi-layered and skilled approach of Hint’s creative team toward their clients. I chose fabric sleeve cases to accompany the dust jackets to expand that concept, developing how Hint’s designs vary across materials and media. After printing the landscape of the city and the landscape of mountains, hand-sewing the sleeves was a great completion of the project, going from digital designing to hands-on experiences.
